    Vauxhall Astra Key Fob programming

Hello, Can anyone give me a bit of advice from experience, I only had one key for my car so bought second hand fob and new cut blade, fitted blade to 2nd hand fob and using op-com tried to programme but just keeps saying program failed, so i tried swapping batteries from good key to 2nd hand one but still the same, tried programming original key already have which programmed ok, 2nd hand fob just fails programming and the key was tried and working prior to buying. Is there any certain sequence need to do in op-com first? There is an option of erasing fobs but don't want to erase one that already working ok. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it the immobiliser programming that is failing or the central locking? The immo chip (on the later cars at least) can only be paired to a car once (you can only re-pair them to the original car).

There are 2 parts to programme, central locking and immobiliser, don't think it matters, but if your programming immobiliser then you need to use a brand new transponder, second hand ones will not work, The central locking fob needs to be the same megahertz or it wont work as well.

I can only see 1 part which is fob programming cant see anything about central locking. What ecu does that come under? Also where the best price to get new fob chip.

Ive just ordered a chip off ebay 4 because i want to do the same as you but the seller is really slow to send and is not responding to any emails, typical, and now we have all the bank holidays coming, fingers crossed mine will come next week, I take it you have tried to programme with a used chip,

I cant remember which module central locking can be found in, think its body module on mine, could be wrong though

remember this is for astra h, i have done a bit more research myself and the transponder chip cannot be paired with another car only re-programmed to it's original car, and stripped the remote fob i have and the central locking/transponder chip are soldered onto a circuit board and therefore a full new fob would be required. I have searched the net to try find astra h NEW key fobs but cant find any does anyone know where to buy them except vauxhall? or does anyone know who makes the majority of these?

Why do lying people sell these fobs on ebay as working tried and tested (yeah on there car) and say just need to be programmed to your car! when they surely know they cannot be re-programmed to another car

I didn't realise the transponder chip was soldered onto the board, on my Vauxhall zafira A key its separate but it as you say its a later key, If this is the case then its a brand new key off VX

I know these people sell brand new keys and may also sell compatible transponders you could put with your key if you can program the central locking part of the key.

let me know if they do i bought a key a while ago from here through a friend who also coded it but i am no longer in touch with him he has moved away so cant give you much more help than that

i also need a new key mine went for a swim so might look at buying a second hand one and trying a transponder from here or if not a new key from here.

BlueSwan, have you got the correct key?, have a look at your original key in the slot were the key folds down, doesn't it say valeo or delphi, if the key you have just bought is a delphi it will not program to your valeo immobilizer and vice versa, plus as said if the key has been programmed before throw it away because it's no good to anyone anymore as are program once chips in them, plus you cannot buy a new chip ( they wont sell you one ) plus the new circuit boards and chip are all one unit now ( the chip is part of the circuit board, if its been used and you got it off ebay get hold of seller and ask for your money back as you have been conned just like hundreds more have been done ( and me ). Good luck.
